jESC 2015: Armenia – Mika – Love

It’s the continuation of my opinion regarding the 17 competing entries from the 17 participating countries of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria (officially, though, the host will be Bulgaria as a whole. Sofia is only the location of the venue)

Next stop is Armenia, who has sent a modern take on late 50’s/early 60’s rock’n’roll track in armenian and english about love titled… well, “Love”, sung by Mika (who had participated in the last few NF’s (the first time Armenia did it since their jESC debut 2007, when Arevik were internally chosen). He had witnessed a NF win as part of Compass Band back in 2012 – however, since he was a bit too young to participated according to the jESC rules, he had to be ruled out of a participation). The lyricist of the entry, Avet Barseghyan, had already participated in ESC as the co-lyricst for Armenia‘s ESC 2009‘s entry (“Jan jan”, Inga & Anush). A more extensive biography of the participant can be seen on this link:

Now to the opinion of the song: A pretty well-made catchy track that gives out the best of influences from the genre this song was built upon and that’s sung by a cheerful singer – the video itself gives the song a extra flavour to it. Normally, this has the ingredients to do pretty well, but we’ll see what Mika is planning to do with the entry’s visual performance this year and if his vocal performance can lift it up further…

The first of two debuting countries, Australia, is coming up next. Don’t miss it pretty soon…

Thank you,
