jESC 2014: Ukraine – Sympho-Nick – Priyde vesna

Hi,

jesc2014

It’s the continuation of my opinion regarding the 16 competing entries from the 16 participating countries of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014, which will be held in Marsa, Malta (officially, though, the host will be Malta as a whole. Marsa is only the location of the venue)

My opinions of all the jESC 2014 entries are coming to an end – and the final country on the list is Ukraine. This year, they have chosen the magical mid-tempo entry “Priyde vesna” (translated as “Spring will come”, which is in turn the official title NTU gave when sending everything about the entry to EBU), one that will be sung by the trio Sympho-Nick (composed of Sofiya KutsenkoAmaliya Krymskaya and Marta Rak). They wrote the song themselves, but got some help from Yegeny Matyushenko with the lyrics and Mikhail Nekrasov with the music. A more extensive biography of the participant can be seen on this link: http://www.junioreurovision.tv/page/participant-profile?song=32403

Now to the opinion of the song: The entry is indeed magical on its instrumental – it makes you think this could be an ideal song to be heard in a fantasy movie (with different arrangements, that is). In a way, the lyrics also capture the idea of fantasy movie as it proudly wanders about the enchanting beauty of Ukraine. Not to mention the girls’ soft and mature-like voices are really strong on this one – all in all, a solid and well-produced entry. Without a doubt they perform well as seen on their NF performance, but will they manage to capture the jury and the televoting‘s hearts? We’ll have to wait…

And that’s it. On Saturday, 15th November 2014, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will start, live in Marsa, Malta. May the best entry win (hoping my top-5 will do well)

Thank you,
