jESC 2012: 04 Belgium – Fabian – Abracadabra

It’s the continuation of my opinion regarding the 12 competing entries from the 12 participating countries of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012, which will be held in Amsterdam

The next country is one of the few countries that has been on every edition of jESC thus far, to say, since its conception (2003) to now (2012): Belgium

Belgium has sent a catchy pop-rock dance entry called “Abracadabra”, made by himself, together with Jeroen Swinnen and Stefaan Fernande (the latter is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest world as he co-wrote the turkish entry of 2009, “Dum tek tek”, sung in this ocassion by Hadise). More about the singer can be found on this page:

Now to the opinion of the song: a song about conquering a girl’s heart by becoming a magician, it’s one of those cases in which the crossover between a juvenile sound and a mature sound is quite obvious. And yet it blends quite well with Fabian‘s voice. Simply one of the best of this edition. Let’s hope that the performance will be more powerful than what he did in the Belgian Junior NF 2012

Next stop will be Russia, another of the favourites to win the jESC 2012 edition. Watch out for it…

Thank you,
